Creating a Stand Presence That Made a First Exhibition Count
For a first-time exhibitor, success is not just about turning up — it is about being noticed. In a busy exhibition hall, visitors make decisions quickly. The Exhibition stand designs that feel forgettable are easy to walk past. An Exhibition stand design that feels confident, distinctive and well considered gives a business the chance to stop people, start conversations and make the opportunity count.
Our client was preparing to exhibit at ExCeL London and needed a shell scheme stand that would help them launch and market new products with confidence.
Because this was their first exhibition, there was understandable uncertainty around what would be included with the stand space, how much could realistically be achieved within the format, and how to create enough visual impact without overspending. Like many first-time exhibitors, they needed something that felt polished and memorable, while still remaining commercially sensible.
That is often the challenge with shell scheme exhibiting. It offers a more practical and cost-effective route into exhibitions than a bespoke build, but the space still has to work hard. The client therefore needed a stand presence that would help them feel established from the outset, rather than looking like they were simply filling a basic exhibition package.
Because the client already had an established brand identity, the project could build from a clear visual language rather than starting from scratch. That made it possible to create something more immersive than a standard shell scheme graphic treatment.
Working from that foundation, we helped develop a nine-panel stand concept built around a large-format beach scene that flowed across the full shell scheme. Rather than treating each panel as a separate graphic space, the whole stand was approached as one connected visual environment. This gave the client a more cohesive and distinctive backdrop, helping the space feel more confident, more memorable and more premium than a typical first-time exhibitor setup.
At the same time, the solution needed to remain practical. The stand was designed to be clean, easy to manage and straightforward to install, with the realities of exhibition space, equipment and footfall all taken into account. The artwork was delivered ahead of the show, and the client’s team were able to erect the system in around 30 minutes.
The finished stand gave the client exactly what a first exhibition appearance needed: presence.
Throughout the show, visitors stopped to take photographs and engage with the team — a strong sign that the stand was doing its job before conversations had even begun. It helped the client attract attention, create curiosity and present their new products in a way that felt confident and established.
Just as importantly, the stand delivered beyond the event itself. It was easy to install, easy to dismantle and easy to store, allowing the client to reuse the panels for future exhibitions and extend the value of the investment over time.
What could have been a fairly standard first exhibition setup became a much stronger launch platform — helping the client show up with confidence, make a visual impact and get more from the opportunity.
